The EEG Technician is responsible for conducting electroencephalogram (EEG) tests to monitor and record the electrical activity of patients' brains. Working in hospitals or diagnostic centers under the supervision of neurologists or specialized physicians, this role involves preparing patients, operating EEG equipment, analyzing preliminary results, and ensuring accurate documentation. The EEG Technician must maintain high standards of patient care, safety, and confidentiality, in compliance with UAE healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities:
Preparing patients for EEG procedures by explaining the process and answering questions to reduce anxiety.
Positioning and attaching electrodes to patients’ scalps according to standardized protocols.
Operating EEG machines to record brain wave patterns and monitor neurological activity.
Observing and documenting patients’ behavior and reactions during tests.
Ensuring accurate and complete recording of data for physician interpretation.
Maintaining and calibrating EEG equipment regularly to ensure optimal functionality.
Assisting in specialized tests such as sleep studies, video EEG monitoring, or ambulatory EEGs when required.
Adhering to infection control protocols and patient safety procedures at all times.
Keeping detailed and confidential patient records in accordance with medical regulations.
Communicating effectively with medical staff regarding patient status or concerns.
Requirements:
Diploma or degree in Neurodiagnostic Technology, Allied Health Sciences, or a related field.
Certification in EEG technology is preferred.
Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience conducting EEG tests in a clinical environment.
Strong understanding of EEG procedures, equipment, and neurological terminology.
Familiarity with UAE healthcare standards and patient care regulations.
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with patients of all ages.
Attention to detail and accuracy in handling technical procedures and documentation.
Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights or weekends if required by the healthcare facility.
Proficiency in using hospital information systems and electronic health records.
