This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Designer - Loss Prevention with a proven track record in understanding of the complexities involved in large-scale Gas Processing projects to meet objectives for a high-profile client.

The Key Objectives For This Role Are
- Develop and produce accurate loss prevention design deliverables, including fire and gas detection layouts, firewater system drawings, safety signage plans, and hazardous area classifications, in accordance with project requirements and international safety standards.
- Ensure effective integration of safety systems into facility layouts, collaborating with process, mechanical, and civil teams to optimize safety zone planning and escape route designs.
- Support risk mitigation efforts by translating fire and explosion risk assessments (FERA), hazard identification studies (HAZID), and QRA findings into practical design solutions.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and global codes (such as NFPA, API, ISO, or OSHA), while aligning with client-specific loss prevention philosophies.
- Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to address design-related safety issues, resolve clashes, and ensure constructability of loss prevention systems.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and develop loss prevention design deliverables, including fire and gas detection layouts, firewater system drawings, safety signage plans, and escape route maps in alignment with project specifications and safety regulations.
- Support the implementation of safety studies, such as HAZID, HAZOP, FERA, and QRA, by translating recommendations into effective design strategies.
- Ensure compliance with international codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, API, ISO, OSHA) and client-specific safety philosophies throughout all design outputs.
- Collaborate with multi-discipline teams (process, mechanical, piping, civil, electrical) to integrate safety systems effectively into overall plant layouts and designs.
- Conduct design checks and reviews, resolving interface issues and incorporating feedback from risk assessments, client comments, and constructability evaluations.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and revision control, ensuring timely delivery of all assigned safety-related drawings and reports.

Expected
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Fire & Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Must have at least 5–10 years of experience in loss prevention or fire & gas design within oil & gas, petrochemical, or large industrial EPC/EPCM projects.
- Solid understanding of fire protection systems, hazardous area classification, and gas detection philosophies.
- Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software
- Familiarity with international codes and standards such as NFPA, API, OSHA, ISO, and local authority regulations.
- Experience of working in a multi - project / multi - disciplined environment and throughout all engineering and design phases of projects
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
Skills
- Ability to develop safety layouts, escape route maps, firewater system drawings, and hazardous area plans in line with project and regulatory requirements.
- Strong coordination skills for interfacing with engineering disciplines (process, piping, electrical, civil) and integrating safety systems across layouts.
- Knowledge of key risk assessment methodologies like HAZID, HAZOP, QRA, and FERA, and the ability to interpret findings into design deliverables.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in safety-critical documentation and drawing production.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with engineering teams, safety consultants, and client representatives.
