Description About The Project

This is a greenfield OCGT project to be constructed with a net power capacity of 1440 MW, together with its ancillary equipment, associated infrastructure and facilities. The Project comprises the Plant and associated Electrical Special Facilities (ESF). The Plant will be located inland at a site situated one hundred sixty (160) km south-west of the City of Abu Dhabi.

Objective

The Project Contract Manager (PCM) is primarily responsible for the contract management of all the allied project agreements during the construction phase of one or more ongoing construction projects within the Business Unit, with a specific focus on claim management, including negotiation and monitoring. The candidate will require to be based at the project site office within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Reporting line

The PCM reports to the Project Company Executive Management Director (EMD) and functionally to the Senior Contract Manager, Engie AMEA.

Job responsibility

  • Monitors and support claims management from ENGIE, the offtaker and the contractor side.
  • Reviews and analyzes contractual documents to identify risks and opportunities to optimize the project value and provide advice on the implications of contractual clauses.
  • Ensure contract management activities align with the project contract and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential contract-related risks.
  • Negotiate directly with the EPC contractor to resolve contractual issues and ensure compliance with contract terms And PPA.
  • Manage the events: notifications, changes, contract communication and documentation
  • Liaises with the Project Company EMD, Construction Director, the Owners Engineer, and the legal team where necessary to review and provide inputs to critical contractual correspondences.
  • Reviews the arrangement and administration of all project bonds, guarantees and insurances in accordance with the contractual obligations.
  • Monitors contracts execution against identified KPIs: deliverables, milestones, contract commitments, claims and performance.
  • Ensures that the project management staff is fully aware of their contractual obligations and of their impacts. Participates in contract briefings and provides advice in responding to contractual queries and assist proactively in the resolution of the issues.
  • Advises on contractual implications of proposed changes and ensure that any contractual changes that result from change requests are drafted and approved by relevant parties.
  • Ensures with legal team that all legal documents are correctly maintained and updated.
  • Supports the collection and sharing of « Return of Experience » (REX) / Lessons Learned.
  • Ensure contract management tasks are scheduled without interfering with project goals.
  • Develop and implement plans and procedures for contract administration and compliance.
  • Promote SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) procedures and guidelines in contract management.

Qualification/Experience / Knowledge And Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in contract management in a construction environment, preferably in power plants or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in management of international industrial projects (including on-site).
  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • In-depth understanding of contract management practices and procedures.
  • Proficiency in technical aspects of contract administration and compliance.
  • Technical career path in at least one of the Groups core businesses
  • Organized, rigorous, ability to step back
  • Inter-functional, intercultural and interpersonal facilitation skills
  • Ability to listen, lead and convince in a non-hierarchical position
  • High negotiation capability maintaining a balance between assertiveness and flexibility
  • High standard of Oral and written communication skills
  • Languages: Fluent English
  • Competency in Microsoft Office is essential.
