We are seeking a proactive and responsible Shift In-Charge to oversee the smooth and safe operations of our Herbicide facility during assigned shifts. This role demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Qualification, Skills & Experience
DEE (Diploma Electrical Engineering)
5+ years of experience in chemical plant operations, preferably in herbicide or agrochemical manufacturing (Formulation & Packaging) will be preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Sound knowledge of safety protocols, quality systems, and permit-to-work systems.
Ability to work in rotational shifts and handle emergency situations confidently.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all plant operations during the shift, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance.
Act as the Incident Commander during off-office hours, with full authority over site activities.
Ensure adherence to SOPs, SOC limits, and product quality standards.
Issue and manage work permits and job plans as required.
Guide and support the shift team in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
Take corrective actions for any deviations in safety or quality.
Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members effectively.
Maintain clear communication across shifts and ensure accurate shift handovers.
Conduct safety toolbox meetings and ensure compliance with safe work practices.
Review and update shift logbooks and production boards.
Monitor raw material and packaging material consumption and waste generation.
Ensure the plant is never left unmanned during breaks.
Stay informed on cross-functional operations and contamination prevention protocols.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, JCC, PSM, CP).
Uphold operational discipline and support best practices at the site level.
Shift Team Leader/Formulation-Packing shift team member
Conduct Safety Toolbox Meetings at the start of each shift.
Perform thorough shift handovers, reviewing the last three shift reports as per DPS standards.
Ensure accuracy between shift report logs and actual shop floor activities.
Inspect and maintain cleanliness of PPE and ensure proper housekeeping in the formulation area.
Manage raw material availability and ensure proper storage and handling.
Execute batch processing as per SOPs and log formulation data for OEE tracking.
Monitor and ensure compliance with contamination prevention (CP) and environmental standards.
Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and storage as per GPCB norms.
Conduct safety shower inspections and plant patrols at the start of each shift.
Collect retainer samples for every batch and track batch yield to minimize losses.
Ensure plant is never left unmanned during breaks and manage contract workforce shift changes.
Maintain and update all plant-related boards (Daily Production, Shift Performance, Emergency, DPSQCM).
Address and report any incidents, near misses, or breakdowns within defined timelines.
Participate in Kaizen, JCC, PSM, CP, and SBT activities.
Prepare and manage work permits and job plans during the shift.
Submit surveys, Workday goals, and attend all scheduled safety trainings and MCMs.
Ensure all materials are stored properly with strapping and no floor storage.
Lead safe and timely cleanouts during product changeovers.
Control cross-area manpower movement as per CP recommendations.
Ensure compliance with all Level 4 documentation and validation requirements.
Responsibility for Packing Operation.
Manage online rework and address packing material rejections promptly.
Ensure compliance with Contamination Prevention (CP) protocols.
Conduct BRC checks and maintain packing quality standards.
Report abnormalities observed during operations or plant patrols.
Conduct Safety Toolbox Meetings at the start of each shift.
Review previous three shift reports and ensure accurate shift handovers.
Verify alignment between shift reports and actual shop floor activities.
Ensure PPE cleanliness and readiness; maintain PPE storage areas.
Oversee housekeeping and hygiene in the packing line area.
Inspect and segregate online supplier rejections; log all observations.
Execute packing operations as per SOPs and suggest improvements when needed.
Handle hazardous and non-hazardous waste transfer from the packing area.
Maintain Level 4 documentation and ensure proper material storage practices.
Update SBT boards and monitor OEE data and downtime using software tools.
Ensure safety and compliance for all contract workers; manage shift changeovers.
Address and report incidents, near misses, and breakdowns within defined timelines.
Maintain stock of packing materials and critical spares.
