Job Description

An Accounts Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the finance department by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting in the preparation of financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing financial reports including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records for future reference and auditing.
  • Reconcile bank statements to ensure the figures align with financial data.
  • Prepare and process invoices, ensuring timely payments to vendors and creditors.
  • Coordinate with other departments to manage and resolve supplier queries efficiently.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial close processes as required.
  • Assist in conducting internal audits to ensure adherence to financial policies.
  • Maintain accounts payable and receivable files and records up to date.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure timely submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external financial procedures and regulations.
  • Manage petty cash transactions and track cash flow effectively.
  • Provide clerical support to the accounting department, managing correspondence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
  • Proven work experience as an Accounts Assistant or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for financial processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information ethically.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage is beneficial.
