Job Description

A Logistics Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods, materials, and products for a company or organization. They are responsible for coordinating and managing logistics operations, including transportation, inventory management, warehousing, and distribution. This position involves analyzing and optimizing logistical processes to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Logistics Specialists work closely with suppliers, vendors, carriers, and clients to ensure timely delivery of products and maintain high customer satisfaction levels. They must have strong problem-solving skills to address logistical challenges and the ability to adapt to changing market dynamics. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential as they liaise with multiple departments and stakeholders across the supply chain.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement efficient logistics strategies to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and manage transportation schedules to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehousing for proper stock management.
  • Negotiate contracts with carriers and third-party logistics providers for cost savings.
  • Analyze logistics data to identify areas for improvement in processes and performance.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to optimize their logistics operations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international transportation regulations.
  • Manage logistics software systems to track shipments and inventory levels effectively.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on logistics performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Resolve logistical issues promptly to maintain customer satisfaction and service quality.
  • Plan and execute logistics projects to support business growth and expansion.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with freight forwarders and customs brokers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in logistics or supply chain management roles.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret logistics data and optimize operations.
  • Excellent negotiation skills for dealing with carriers and vendors.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and tools used for inventory management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with various stakeholders effectively.
