The Kitchen Steward plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen in any food service establishment. Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas and equipment frequently.
  • Collect, wash, and sanitize dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment efficiently.
  • Ensure proper disposal of kitchen waste and maintain waste management systems.
  • Assist in inventory management by organizing and stocking supplies properly.
  • Perform regular checks on kitchen equipment and report any malfunctions immediately.
  • Support chefs and kitchen staff by preparing and organizing ingredients promptly.
  • Ensure all cleaning supplies are properly labeled and stored safely at all times.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations within the kitchen environment.
  • Assist in documenting kitchen procedures and maintaining a log of cleaning activities.
  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down kitchen stations at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Participate in kitchen safety training and adhere to all guidelines established by the management.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a kitchen steward or similar role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of kitchen health and safety regulations is highly desired.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a busy environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively assist the kitchen team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk and carry heavy items for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
