Nasdaq’s Legal, Regulatory & Risk group is looking for an experienced Assistant General Counsel to join our global legal team located in North America, Europe and Asia and supporting our businesses worldwide.
Role Responsibilities -
Your role and responsibilities:
Under the mentorship and supervision of senior legal team members, lead a team of attorneys based in Mumbai to handle Nasdaq’s enterprise commercial client and procurement agreements. A typical day will include:
- Being responsible for the drafting, review, analysis and negotiations of a variety of commercial and licensing agreements, including, but not limited to, SaaS client and vendor agreements, licensing agreements, NDAs, and sponsorship and events.
- Lead your own case load of more complex drafting, review, analysis and negotiations with autonomy.
- Work closely with sales, operations and product teams to ensure Company objectives are met.
- Provide legal mentorship and support to our internal businesses and operations around the world including licensing, technology and commercial legal advice.
- Keep up to date and provide mentorship on regulations that impact Nasdaq products and services.
- Representing (without close supervision from senior lawyers) the company’s positions in commercial matters.
We expect you to have:
- At least 12+ years’ experience, preferably at a top law firm and/or in-house.
- Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, ranging from basic to complex. This demands strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience leading a team of attorneys and other legal professionals.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of other teams across multiple regions is essential, making excellent communication skills imperative.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects and clients.
- Education Qualification: Bachelor of Law
It would be phenomenal if you have:
- Experience in leading a team of attorneys including training of junior members of the team.
- Understanding of the legal and business aspects of licensing data, including supervised data, alternative data, indexes, financial information, software and/or technology products and services.
- Experience drafting and negotiating contracts for complex commercial transactions.
- The ability to analyze complex contracts and optimally communicate with internal clients.
- Knowledge of intellectual property and data privacy/data security.
- Experience working within a contract lifecycle management platform (preferably Conga).
