Job Description

The Medical Receptionist plays a crucial role in healthcare facilities, serving as the first point of contact for patients. This position requires excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor to effectively interact with patients, healthcare professionals, and other staff members. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for coordinating various office tasks and procedures to allow the healthcare facility to function efficiently. Duties include managing the front desk operations, scheduling appointments, processing insurance information, and maintaining accurate patient records. A successful Medical Receptionist must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while providing a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for patients and visitors.


Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist incoming patients and their families with a friendly attitude.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments and follow-up visits efficiently.
  • Manage multi-line phone systems and direct calls to appropriate departments.
  • Verify patient information and insurance details using office software systems.
  • Process patient check-ins and check-outs, ensuring smooth workflow.
  • Handle patient inquiries and provide information regarding clinic services.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to facilitate patient care and scheduling needs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic patient records and files.
  • Collect payments and manage financial transactions with accuracy.
  • Ensure the reception area is tidy, organized, and presentable at all times.
  • Assist in administrative duties such as data entry and filing as required.
  • Monitor office supplies and place orders when necessary to avoid shortages.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification is required.
  • Previous experience in a medical receptionist or similar role preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
  • Proficiency in office management software, including MS Office Suite, required.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to multitask effectively.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures is advantageous.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
