Summary
The Lead Engineer, Software develops, debugs, tests, deploys and supports software deployed in Network switch and Storage products used in Data Center, Enterprise and Campus environments. They write, debug, maintain, and test software in C, C++, Python at various levels in the hierarchy (from Firmware to Application). Software creation follows a standard development process (such as Agile, Scrum, etc.) and complies with the product life cycle development (phase/gate deliverables).
The Lead Engineer, Software works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Strong knowledge of C, C++, Python programming languages
- Strong knowledge of Linux (especially device drivers), SONiC network operating systems
- Strong knowledge of SONiC platform drivers, SAI is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of optical modules, DAC/AOC cables, CMIS specification is highly desirable
- Previous experience working on network switch products based on Broadcom switch SoCs (Tomahawk, Trident, Jericho) and Marvell switch (AlleyCat) SoCs
- Good knowledge of networking protocols used in Data Center and Campus topologies
- Good understanding of networking hardware architecture and concepts
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of the software design/development process
- Ability to gather, analyze, evaluate, diagnose and troubleshoot problems
- Ability to simultaneously manage several projects and coordinate multiple, changing deadlines
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work with minimal supervision is highly desired
Physical Demands
- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Typical Experience
- More than 8 years of relevant industry experience
Typical Education
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science is required, Masters in Computer Science is preferred
- CCNP/CCNA R&S (or equivalent certification) is highly desirable
