Job Summary
The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, developmental planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape future space missions across the national security space enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including Air Force Space Command, U.S. Strategic Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation.
The SSC Operational Test and Training Infrastructure (OTTI) organization (SSC/TI) is responsible for integrating and synchronizing the acquisition, development, and sustainment of integrated test and training capabilities for delivery to the United States Space Force (USSF). These advanced systems provide the foundation for High-End Advanced Test, Training, and Tactics Development for all USSF Guardians. The OTTI portfolio includes enterprise systems and services providing interconnected, scalable, and distributed physical and digital ranges for full-spectrum test and training capabilities for the joint warfighter.
This requisition seeks a Hybrid Cloud Architect (Sr. Project Leader- Cyber Security & Cloud Computing Architecture) to provide technical and programmatic leadership within the OTTI integrated program office to define, develop, and field operational test and training capabilities. This role is responsible for providing critical support to SSC/TI, including systems engineering, architecting, modeling and simulation, digital engineering, engagements with various customers and users, and acquisition planning and execution. The OTTI Cloud Architect may be matrixed with DAF CLOUDworks, other USSF Cloud Initiatives in support of Digital Engineering Ecosystem Delivery. The selected candidate will apply technical expertise to ensure capability needs are translated and applied to acquisition and development efforts, promoting integration of pioneering technology and rapid acquisition efficiencies.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility nominally located at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO with local travel to support customer needs. Alternate location will be based at our Colorado Springs, CO office.
What You’ll Be Doing
- The position will be supporting the OTTI customers in developing architectures, roadmaps, technical capabilities, and products that support the needs of the digital engineering ecosystem for Guardian readiness and training
- Developing architectures in Government Owned Cloud environments like DAF CLOUDworks, JWCC, OTTI cloud or others as defined
- This role will be to lead technology investigation initiatives, work with vendors, the government, other FFRDC organizations and various contractors to prototype, demonstrate and deliver cyber secure platform capabilities to the warfighters at several space force bases, customer locations in Colorado and undisclosed mission sites
- Engage with commercial technology leaders in discussing product and technology roadmaps and translating those into strategic opportunities for USSF test and training initiatives
- Lead innovation in the key technologies for use in ground systems from the edge to the cloud. Perform analysis, testing demonstrations of leading platform, cloud, cyber security technologies and works with vendors on demonstrations on behalf of the customer
- Provide technical expertise to the OTTI mission in areas of cloud computing, High Performance Computing (HPC) Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), Cybersecurity, Multi-Level Security, and Cross Domain Solution (CDS) to include design, development and deployment automation in hybrid and multi-cloud space to support enterprise digital engineering and distributed training architectures
- Developing distributed engineering ecosystems for USSF and their tenants
What You Need to be Successful – Senior Project Leader – Cloud Computing & Cyber Security Architecture
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree from an accredited program in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Software or related fields is required
- 10+ years of related experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience in architecture for software-intensive systems, preferably in the space system domain
- Ability to interact and build effective relationships and teams with government customers, other FFRDCs, contractors, and Aerospace personnel
- Cloud-based platform work such as AWS, Oracle, Google or Azure
- Hands on experience with cloud based Kubernetes frameworks
- Hands on experience with Red Hat or other Linux Operating Systems
- Hands on experience with VMware products such as Cloud Foundation, Tanzu Kubernetes
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Excellent social skills enabling effective communication with customers, colleagues, and senior management
- Willing to travel [occasionally to work location or customer site/domestically/internationally] approx.10%
- This position requires an active Top Secret/ SCI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Masters in STEM fields or Systems or Security Management is preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge in Zero-Trust architectures, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code such as Ansible, Puppet, Bicep, JSON, Terraform or others
- Demonstrated engagement with commercial technology leaders in discussing product and technology roadmaps and translating those into insertion opportunities for USSF customers
- Knowledge of trends in the Cyber Security and how technology advances are enabling new capabilities within this domain
- Experience in modeling and simulation environments
- Demonstrated experience in leading the development of modeling and simulation and/or digital engineering capabilities
- A current and active Top Secret/ SCI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government, is strongly preferred. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
