The Farm Manager (State Head) will be responsible for leading and managing farm operations across the assigned state to ensure consistent feedstock supply (Napier Grass) for the Bio-Energy business. This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management with farmers/FPOs, and operational excellence in implementing sustainable agricultural practices at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Lead end-to-end planning and execution of Contract and Captive farm-level activities across the state to ensure reliable feedstock supply for Bio-Gas Plant.
Develop and implement state-specific strategies for crop aggregation, logistics, and farm productivity enhancement.
Monitor yield performance, quality standards, and cost optimization for all farm operations.
Farmer & Community Engagement
Oversee strong relationships with farmers, cooperatives, and FPOs to drive participation in biomass supply and waste-to-energy initiatives.
Ensure training and capacity-building programs for farmers on sustainable farming, crop residue management, and income diversification.
People & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Farm Managers, Farm Supervisors, and other agri-executives across Locations.
Set clear goals, track performance, and build capabilities for team members.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive work culture.
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and sustainability guidelines in all operations.
Ability to network with local level stake holders like Village sarpanch, BDO etc.
Maintain objectivity and confidentiality as required by the situation
Maintain accurate MIS, dashboards, and periodic reports on farm activities, biomass collection, and financial performance.
Track and report KPIs related to yield, cost, farmer participation, and supply reliability.
Business Development & Strategy
Support in onboarding new partners/vendors to strengthen the supply chains.
Provide inputs for state-level strategy and annual operating plans.
Collaborate with central teams on pilots, technology adoption, and scaling-up successful models.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of agriculture, crop cycles, and rural ecosystems.
Proven ability to manage large-scale farm operations and rural supply chains.
Excellent stakeholder management with farmers, cooperatives, and government bodies.
Leadership and team management experience with geographically dispersed teams.
Strong problem-solving, planning, and execution skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, MIS tools; exposure to GIS or agri-tech platforms is desirable.
Crisis Management and Problem-Solving skills adhering to Systems and processes
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors/Masters degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness Management, Rural Development, or related field.
812 years of experience in farm management, agri-operations, or rural supply chain management, with at least 35 years in a leadership role.
Experience in working with FPOs, cooperatives, or biomass/agri residue supply chains preferred.
