What Youll Do

As an experienced software engineer utilizing test instrumentation with a broad scope for implementing Viasat’s test and measurement strategies, you will provide technical insights and skill to the product test engineering organization. You will drive long-term improvement of the organization’s testing processes and growth in a multi-customer/multi-vendor/multi-configuration environment.

You will need to think long-term and lay out scalable and maintainable solutions solving issues impacting customer test systems, with effective test measurement tools. You will need a clear understanding of the Test Development Life Cycle and consistently look beyond the current solutions and may have several deliverables not tied to a particular test process and platform. You will deal with broad issues and will be expected to provide solutions along with support. You will use your knowledge of software engineering processes, measurement methodologies, and instrumentation to continually improve all aspects of Viasats test software solutions.

You will work together with test engineers of different groups to improve their teams test strategies and make sure test coverage is complete among different teams and areas. In short, you will assist in defining the high-level testing strategies, while implementing the low-level frameworks and tools which make those strategies possible. This includes implementing and leveraging drivers, abstractions, libraries, and frameworks.

In addition, you will have wide-reaching scope, impact and influence that extend beyond the confines of the Test organization and span the entire organization. The day-to-day

Viasat’s Instrumentation test and driver development.

What Youll Need

• Minimum 6 years of professional experience working with RF and digital test instrumentation (e.g., Spectrum and Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes) and measurement techniques and methodologies (e.g., Noise Figure, Spurious Emissions, IP3)
• Strong understanding of instrument communication, capabilities, file formats, and calibration types.
• Experience in designing, documenting, developing, and debugging instrument driver APIs (e.g., IVI), services, measurements, and tests.
• Experience in C Sharp and TestStand.
• Work in a team environment using version control, build automation, bug tracking, test driven development and similar processes/technologies.
• Identify, implement, and address opportunities to improve test process and test software in the context of quality, performance, reliability, repeatability, and cost
• Collect, Review, and understand customer requirements to continue to expand product definition, software features and capabilities
• Contribute to support channel inquiries, feature request, and issue reporting as needed
• Up to 10% travel
  
  
  

What Will Help You On The Job

• BS or MS in ECE, EEE, EIE or similar technical degree
• Familiarity with any of the following languages, C/C++, Python, or LabVIEW
• Familiarity with Nimbus, Visual Studio, and Git
• Results oriented with a high degree of accountability, commitment, and responsibility
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills possess excellent analytical skills
