Role: Outbound Marketer

Location: This is an on-site role based at Zoho’s global headquarters in Chennai.

Experience: 5 - 7 years


About the Role

As an Outbound marketer, you will act as the bridge between marketing and sales, combining the art of storytelling with customer relationship-building. Your primary responsibility is to engage prospects, prepare compelling pitches, and document detailed customer journeys. While you leave the commercials and closing to the sales team, your job is to create meaningful conversations that uncover customer needs, nurture trust, and shape the narrative that propels deals forward.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Engaging & Understanding Customers

  • Initiate and sustain meaningful conversations with prospective clients.
  • Identify and document customer pain points, business objectives, and decision-making processes.
  • Use a consultative approach to discover latent customer needs and position solutions effectively.

2. Crafting Tailored Pitches

  • Develop personalized, insightful pitches aligned with customer needs.
  • Equip the sales team with compelling narratives that highlight value propositions.
  • Continuously refine messaging based on feedback from customer interactions.

3. Building & Documenting Customer Journeys

  • Meticulously track and document customer interactions from first contact to deal closure.
  • Develop customer journey narratives that highlight critical moments, objections, and resolutions.
  • Share these stories internally to improve future sales and marketing approaches.

4. Collaborating with Sales Teams

  • Act as a trusted liaison between marketing and sales, ensuring a seamless handoff.
  • Provide context to the sales team on customer preferences and potential objections.
  • Support sales by creating relevant content that resonates with different buyer personas.

5. Storytelling & Post-Closure Narratives

  • Craft engaging, data-backed stories that document the customer’s journey post-deal closure.
  • Highlight customer success stories that can be leveraged for future marketing campaigns.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

Communication & Relationship-Building:

  • Ability to build rapport with diverse personas across industries.
  • Strong listening and empathy skills to uncover unspoken customer needs.

Pitch Development & Storytelling:

  • Expertise in developing engaging pitches aligned with customer pain points.
  • Ability to create compelling narratives that connect emotionally and logically.

Analytical & Documentation Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail in documenting customer conversations.
  • Ability to identify patterns and extract insights from customer interactions.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Understanding:

  • Experience working closely with both sales and marketing teams.
  • Ability to provide actionable insights to sales based on customer conversations.

Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ years in a customer-facing marketing, sales, pre-sales, or sales enablement role.
  • Proven track record of engaging prospects and building long-term relationships.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and sales enablement tools to track customer interactions.


Bonus Skills (Nice-to-Have):

  • Experience in content creation or customer success stories.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific buyer journeys and personas.
  • Ability to analyze data and refine pitches accordingly.
