Position Summary
ASSA ABLOY is looking for a Area Development Manager – Export Markets (Sri Lanka & Maldives) based out of Chennai to oversee and expand our business operations in the Sri Lanka & Maldives market.
This role involves end-to-end management of exports—from strategy development to execution—ensuring compliance, profitability, and long-term growth.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute export strategies for Sri Lanka & Maldives
- Build and manage relationships with Sri Lankan & Maldivian distributors, agents, and clients
- Conduct market analysis and identify new business opportunities
- Collaborate with internal teams (production, logistics, finance) to ensure timely shipments and quality standards
- Work closely with the Specification architectural consultants and architects to offer the world class solutions
- Analyze sales trends and prepare forecasts for the Sri Lanka & Maldives region
- Represent the company in trade exhibitions and business meetings in Sri Lanka & Maldives
- Managing existing accounts & appointing new partners
- Ensure World class pre and post-sale experience is offered to the consumers
- Prepare & present reports on the category periodically.
- Provide support to the Product Managers in proactively suggesting market trends
Skills Required:
- Strong desire to deliver sales targets and have self-motivation to work independently in achieving targets.
- Ability to present/demonstrate the products successfully to the customers.
- Confident, energetic and has the appetite to work in an entrepreneurial environment and grow faster
- Knowledge of Data Analytics to ensure proper sales analysis and forecasts
- Problem solving skills to understand root cause and articulate the same
- Negotiation skills to ensure proper channel management
- Should maintain time discipline and strong work ethic
- Should be responsive, organized and energetic
- Possesses a high level of integrity and ownership of responsibilities
- Shows high drive for results and execution excellence. Follows up with stakeholders till the result is achieved
- Develops partnerships, keeps stakeholders updated on progress of targets and activities on time
- Proficiency in MS excel and power point
- Problem solving skills to understand root cause and articulate the same
- Proficiency in MS excel, power point
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel frequently to Sri Lanka and other relevant destinations
Education Qualification & Experience required:
- 6-8 years previous total experience, with preferable exposure of Building material industry
- Fluency in Tamil and/or Sinhala is a strong advantage
- Cultural awareness and adaptability
- Prior experience handling Sri Lanka market
