At F-Secure, we’re constantly exploring new technology, and this role is essential to our growth. We’ve recently added a visionary Chief Architect to our team, and now we’re looking to expand by hiring a hands-on, forward-thinking Software Architect in Bangalore, India.

This role is based in Bangalore, India, with a dotted line reporting to the Chief Architect in Helsinki. While the position is based in India, you’ll work closely with colleagues across F-Secure’s global locations i.e. Finland, US, Malaysia and Slovakia.

Key Responsibilities

Technology governance in India: You’ll be responsible for cataloging system components, documenting their architectures, and managing the creation of an architecture roadmap as the system evolves. You’ll also assess and address technical debt and guide the process of choosing tools and frameworks together with F-Secure Architecture Community.

Migration of legacy systems: You’ll lead the migration from legacy systems to modern infrastructure, ensuring a smooth transition. This involves documenting comparisons between legacy systems and their replacements and overseeing the migration process, from software to data.

Driving innovation: You’ll help shape the direction for innovation across F-Secure in India by encouraging creative thinking through initiatives like hackathons and team projects. Your role will focus on fostering a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement, driving meaningful progress within the team.

Reporting to both the Head of Technology in India, having a dotted line to the Chief Architect in Helsinki, you’ll have an important role in making key decisions that will shape the future of F-Secure’s technology in India.

What are we looking for?

Proven technical expertise: You have a strong background in software architecture, with at least 7+ years of experience in building, maintaining, and evolving complex systems. You’re well-versed in both legacy systems and modern architecture and have led technical migrations. You have proven experience in the following:

• Software Architecture creation and documentation skills
• Software Architecture decomposition methodologies
• Software component interface design.
• Identifying and evaluating Architecture characteristics.
• Technologies and Platforms: You are familiar with wide variety of technologies and platforms and have proven hands-on experience. Key areas include API and API management, mobile and web application development, Cloud native development with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or similar cloud platform.
• Strong communication and leadership: You can clearly explain architectural strategies, guide teams, and work closely with technology leaders. You take ownership of technology governance and enjoy mentoring and leading teams.
• Innovation mindset: You’re passionate about exploring new ideas and have experience running hackathons or similar projects. You enjoy creating an environment where trying new approaches is encouraged, and you can identify new technologies that will benefit the business.
• Collaboration skills: As this role involves working across multiple teams, you need to collaborate well with others and bring them together to solve complex problems. You’re confident in building relationships with different stakeholders and achieving results.
• Language and cultural fit: Full professional proficiency in English and experience working in a multicultural and global work environment.

In this role, you’ll oversee and guide teams working with the following technologies (but not limited to) across Cloud and Mobile domains:

• Backend: AWS, Java, Scala
• Machine Learning (ML): Python, AWS
• iOS: Swift, Swift UI, Obj-C, C/C++
• Android: Java & Kotlin

While you won’t be hands-on with the coding, familiarity with these technologies, especially AWS, will allow you to effectively guide and support your teams in making strategic decisions.
