Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery: Lead and support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of transport planning projects, with a particular focus on active travel and placemaking schemes.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide subject matter expertise in active travel policy, scheme design, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee and review deliverables from junior staff, ensuring alignment with project objectives, technical standards, and client expectations.
  • Design & Appraisal: Contribute to the development of walking and cycling infrastructure schemes in line with LCWIP principles and relevant design guidance (e.g., LTN 1/20, Manual for Streets).
  • Collaboration & Communication: Act as a key point of contact between the UK and iCRC teams, helping to manage workflows, monitor progress, and communicate expectations.
  • Delegation & Task Management: Effectively manage and check delegated tasks, providing structured feedback and ensuring timely delivery to agreed standards.
  • Mentorship & Upskilling: Play a proactive role in the professional development of junior colleagues, offering technical guidance, coaching, and day-to-day support to help them build core transport planning competencies.
  • Resourcing & Risk Management: Support the line manager with resource planning, flagging utilisation or capacity issues, and helping to identify and manage project risks.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, working collaboratively across disciplines and locations.
  • Business Development: Contribute to funding bids, feasibility studies, and strategic reports that promote sustainable and active travel.
  • Sustainability: Embed sustainability principles throughout project delivery and support the company’s broader sustainability goals.
  • Line Management: Take on formal line management responsibilities, including performance feedback and career development planning.
  • Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Support the reporting of project progress and output quality, and contribute to business improvement initiatives within the team.
