Structure

The role reports to the Associate Vice President. The Diageo Great Britain (GB) Commercial Systems team works closely with several business partners including Commercial Finance, Sales, Supply, Financial Control, Marketing, and the various IS stakeholders (Enterprise Operation, TCS, Infosys, Diageo Bangalore, etc.).

Market Complexity

Main markets are: GB, Ireland and Northern Ireland.

  • Project Management: Ability to manage complex projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing data to drive decision-making and improve system efficiencies. Has strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively. Speaks fluent business English.
  • Innovative thinking: identify ways to make things happen and have the energy and know how to implement. Courage and ability to challenge conventional thinking and put own ideas across.
  • Ownership and accountability: has personal drive to take ownership and deliver solutions. Focus and result oriented, demonstrating rigor and brilliant execution. Purpose of Role

The Commercial Systems Manager role is based in India. The purpose of this role is:

  • The role is designed to support system operations, compliance controls, reporting, and enhancements within GB commercial business systems
  • Ensure to have smooth and successful delivery of the short - and long-term plans relating to commercial systems (e.g. Annual Operating Plan, System upgrades...)
  • Become system process owner and SME. Ensure that the system, performance promise is kept, and the related processes are delivered accurately, efficiently, on time and in line with Controls and Risk Management requirements.
  • Show exceptional leadership skills to be able to hold people to account and to influence senior stakeholders.
  • The role will provide business and strategy insight, analytical rigor to support and challenge the delivery of our financial and commercial targets, processes, systems by working closely with senior stakeholders across different areas in the business. This role gives great visibility to senior management on the individuals performance and allows the individual to grow.

Top 3-5 Accountabilities

  • Act as a commercial system process and tool owner. Put forward ideas that challenge established ways of working. Ensure that the processes are compliant, effective and are in line with the control requirements. In order to reach successful result, influence peers and senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure smooth and successful delivery of the short - and long-term plans (e.g. Annual Operating Plan, System upgrades, commercial system related projects...). Hold people to account.
  • Ensure smooth and accurate business as usual operation and month-end closes. Generate insight, provide analysis for business decision support. Accelerate ticket resolution. Continuously monitor performance. Setting work priorities appropriately.
  • High quality stakeholder management is a must. Constantly deliver great performance. Drive to deliver. Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills.
  • Perform any additional commercial / financial system related task as per Line Manager’s request

Qualifications, Experience Required

Functional Capabilities

  • 5 years of experience in in FMCG sector.
  • 8-10 years’ experience in Commercial Systems Management. Prior business systems experience preferable
  • Excellent coordination, prioritization and stakeholder management skills– is a must
  • Personal drive to take ownership and deliver solutions, results
  • Experience in working with integrated systems (Anaplan, SAP, SAP-BW, SAP-CRM) and strong advanced Excel knowledge/experience.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with high accuracy
  • Excellent business English and communication skills.
  • Hard working, fast learning personality, flexibility, inquisitiveness, proactivity. Has good interpersonal skills. Able to work independently.
  • Results orientated and capable of working in a flexible working environment. Self- driven. Demonstrated energy/drive in the data area. Team player and team mentor.

Barriers to Success in Role

Lack of ownership, drive, accuracy, lack of logical and structured thinking, lack of understanding basic financial processes, insufficient language knowledge (English), inability to work independently or to adapt to the flexible working structure. Inability to develop strong working relationships across the key stakeholders and deliver against promises or have no satisfactory communication skills. Not a team player and insufficiently open minded. Lack of rigor and attention to detail and inability to drive resolution at pace. Lack of communication skills or ability to build good professional relationships. Inability to work with a broad set of stakeholders functionally and culturally. Inability to work assertively and proactively.

Standby and / or work during national holidays and weekends might be occasionally required; overtime or flexible working hours may be required around key reporting periods or market migrations (based on a prior agreement). The jobholder may be instructed by his/her immediate superior to perform all tasks directly or indirectly related, additional or supplementary to the scope of duties defined in this role profile.
