Job Description

As an EDS Expert, you will be a key contributor to Schneider Electric’s sustainability goals by leading the development and management of Environmental Data Sheets (EDS) and Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for our products. You will collaborate across engineering, product development, and sustainability teams to ensure accurate environmental impact documentation and drive eco-design initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

· Lead the creation, validation, and maintenance of environmental documentation including EPDs and End-of-Life Instructions.

· Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) based on ISO 14040 series to quantify environmental impacts across product life cycles.

· Ensure products meet normative environmental constraints and internal sustainability objectives.

· Support the integration of LCA results into eco-design strategies.

· Monitor and report environmental KPIs defined for Environmental Data periodically.

· Collaborate & mentor Eco Referents to track progress on sustainability actions and identify opportunities for improvement.

· Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a scientifically sound approach to environmental actions.

· Promote awareness and foster a culture of sustainability and continual improvement.

 

Technical Skills Required:

 

· Hands-on experience with LCA software tools: EIME (preferred), GaBi, SimaPro, OpenLCA.

· Strong understanding of ISO 14040/14044 standards, EPDs, and eco-design principles.

· Product knowledge across low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems, including protection, control, and switchgear solutions.

· Knowledge of environmental regulations: REACH, RoHS, WEEE, Prop 65, TSCA.

· Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and end-of-life scenarios relevant to electrical/electronic products.

· Experience in interpreting and applying European Directives and global standards.

· BOM analysis and data extraction from PLM systems.

· Strong passion for sustainability and ability to influence stakeholders.

· Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

· Ability to lead cross-functional and international teams.

· Experience in mentoring and capability building.

· Autonomous learner with curiosity for emerging environmental trends.

 

Qualifications:

· BE/BTech or ME/MTech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Environmental Engineering.

· 10-15 years of experience in LCA, environmental data management, or sustainability roles.

· Certification in LCA or environmental assessment tools is a plus.
