We are seeking a passionate and diligent Junior Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist the Sous Chef and Head Chef in managing the kitchen operations to deliver high-quality food consistently. You will have the opportunity to unleash your creativity by contributing to menu development and will play a crucial role in maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and presentation of all the food items, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with health regulations. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Sous Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency.
  • Coordinate and oversee food preparation and presentation in accordance with standards.
  • Contribute to menu planning and recipe development, integrating seasonal produce.
  • Maintain hygiene and safety standards in compliance with health regulations.
  • Monitor and manage kitchen inventory levels and conduct timely stock orders.
  • Supervise and guide kitchen staff, providing training and mentorship where necessary.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure excellent quality and consistency.
  • Actively participate in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Assist in implementing cost-control measures to minimize food wastage.
  • Attend training sessions and actively contribute to team meetings and ideas.
  • Prepare and cook food items in accordance with portion sizes and customer requests.
  • Maintain and foster positive relationships with kitchen staff and front-of-house team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar role in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institute.
  • Strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills for effective team supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and perform efficiently in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the business.
