Job Description

A Staff Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) plays a critical role in the healthcare team, providing specialized nursing care to critically ill or premature newborns. The position requires a compassionate and patient-focused individual who is dedicated to working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. Our NICU is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and supported by a team of neonatologists, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals. As a Staff Nurse in the NICU, you will be responsible for monitoring and providing hands-on care for newborns with serious medical concerns, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care. Excellent communication skills are necessary to educate and support parents and guardians during an intensely emotional time. Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill or premature newborns in the NICU.
  • Monitor vital signs and administer medications following established protocols and standards.
  • Collaborate with neonatologists and pediatricians to develop individualized care plans.
  • Utilize specialized equipment to support the medical needs of newborns with critical health issues.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and condition changes in medical records.
  • Educate and provide support to parents and guardians of newborns in the NICU.
  • Assess and respond to changes in a newborn’s condition promptly and efficiently.
  • Participate in regular training and development activities to stay updated on the latest NICU practices.
  • Ensure the NICU environment is clean, safe, and conducive to high-quality patient care.
  • Perform various procedures such as insertion of IVs, drawing blood, and managing ventilators as required.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure a high quality of care is provided at all times.
  • Engage in family-centered care to enhance the overall experience of the NICU stay.

Requirements.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a NICU or similar environment.
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and manage stressful situations effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support families and work with the team.
  • Proficient in the use of neonatal medical equipment and technology.
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development in neonatal nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
