Job Description

A Merchandiser plays a crucial role in the supply chain management of a retail business, ensuring that products reach store shelves on time, in the correct quantities, and at the right price. As a Merchandiser, your primary responsibility is to maximize the sales and profitability of a retail branch or location. This is done by analyzing customer behavior, reviewing market trends, and making astute decisions about product assortments, pricing, and inventory management. A keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to forecast future trends are vital for success in this role. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, manufacturers, and retail buyers to optimize product placement and ensure that promotional and seasonal campaigns are successful. This dynamic and fast-paced role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to operate effectively in a high-pressure environment.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze sales figures and market trends to forecast future product demands accurately.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to negotiate prices and coordinate deliveries.
  • Develop and implement merchandising strategies to optimize product assortment and sales.
  • Ensure the timely delivery and availability of products at various retail locations.
  • Work with retail managers to execute seasonal promotions and special displays effectively.
  • Monitor stock levels and make decisions regarding reordering or changing product range.
  • Conduct regular store visits to ensure merchandising standards are consistently met.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to create impactful in-store displays and promotions.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports on sales figures, product availability, and stock levels.
  • Liaise with other departments such as logistics and warehouse to streamline operations.
  • Identify potential opportunities and challenges in the retail environment proactively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in merchandising or a related role.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to interpret sales data effectively.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and experience dealing with suppliers is essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with great attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using merchandising software and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
