Job Description

A Dentist plays a critical role in the healthcare system by providing primary oral care services to help patients maintain their teeth and gums in optimal health. Their duties go beyond just teeth cleaning; they diagnose, prevent, and treat oral diseases and injuries and work to improve patients' overall oral health. Responsibilities

  • Examine patients' teeth and gums using dental instruments, x-rays, and other diagnostic tools.

  • Develop personalized treatment plans and discuss options with patients to meet their dental needs.
  • Perform routine dental treatments, including cleanings, fillings, and root canal procedures.
  • Administer anesthetics to provide pain relief during procedures and ensure patient comfort.
  • Collaborate with dental hygienists to provide comprehensive oral health care.
  • Educate patients on maintaining oral health through proper brushing, flossing, and dietary habits.
  • Keep accurate patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes, using dental software.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in dentistry to provide modern treatment options.
  • Maintain a safe and sterile environment for patients and staff within the dental facility.
  • Supervise and mentor dental assistants to ensure efficient practice operations.
  • Advocate for patients' oral health by referring them to specialists when necessary.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree required.
  • Valid state dental license and fulfillment of continuing education requirements.
  • Strong understanding of modern dental procedures and technology advancements.
  • Excellent communication skills to discuss treatment options and comfort anxious patients.
  • Exceptional manual dexterity and precision for performing intricate dental procedures.
  • Proficiency in using dental equipment, software, and diagnostic tools effectively.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach toward providing oral healthcare.
