The Accounts Assistant provides crucial support to the financial operations of an organization. This role is instrumental in ensuring smooth day-to-day finance activities, managing records, and aiding in the preparation of financial statements. The Accounts Assistant works in close collaboration with accountants and other financial professionals to maintain the company’s financial health. They are responsible for handling financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of various financial documents and reports.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ledgers on a consistent basis.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure discrepancies are resolved promptly and accurately.
  • Support the finance department in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
  • Perform data entry tasks to update and maintain financial databases and systems.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely reporting.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate budgetary allocations and reporting.
  • Handle inquiries regarding financial information, processes, and discrepancies efficiently.
  • Prepare and file necessary financial forms, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Provide administrative support to senior accountants and auditors during audits.
  • Conduct regular audits of company spending to verify expenditure and adherence to budgets.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive financial information at all times.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as an Accounts Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles is essential.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for accurate financial reporting.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for interaction with team members.
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly desirable.
