Job Description

As a Commis Chef, you will play a vital role in the kitchen, assisting in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes within your designated section. This is an entry-level position designed for those aspiring to build a career in the culinary arts. Working closely with other kitchen staff, you will gain valuable experience in food preparation techniques and kitchen operations, while ensuring that the kitchen is always running smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items under supervision.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of workstations and kitchen equipment.
  • Follow recipes and instructions to meet quality and presentation standards.
  • Assist senior chefs in the preparation of ingredients and dishes.
  • Help with receiving deliveries and properly storing food items in inventory.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Maintain excellent personal hygiene and groom standards at all times.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations for safe food handling practices.
  • Participate in kitchen training to improve culinary knowledge and skills.
  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service.
  • Assist in stock inventory control, reporting shortages when necessary.
  • Continuously strive to improve standards of food quality and presentation.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife-handling skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Passion for food and enthusiasm to learn new culinary techniques.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
