Job Description

As a Dental Assistant, you play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of dental practices and ensuring a comfortable experience for patients. You will be responsible for preparing patients for dental procedures, assisting the dentist during treatments, and maintaining a clean and organized treatment area. Your friendly demeanor and attention to detail will enhance patient satisfaction and uphold the high standards of care. In collaboration with the dental team, you ensure that all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilized effectively. Your responsibility extends to patient education, where you will inform them about dental hygiene and post-treatment care to promote overall oral health. If you are passionate about health care, have an eye for detail, and communicate effectively, this position is suited for you.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination and surgical rooms by sterilizing instruments and moving equipment into position.
  • Assist the dentist during dental procedures by handing instruments and anticipating needs.
  • Keep patients' dental records updated and assist in taking notes during consultations.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and explain post-operative care instructions.
  • Manage patients’ appointments and help in scheduling follow-up treatments when necessary.
  • Take dental x-rays and ensure they are correctly developed for dentist review.
  • Prepare dental materials such as amalgam, cements, composites, and impression materials.
  • Clean and sterilize dental instruments and ensure the practice adheres to health regulations.
  • Ensure a comfortable and pleasant patient experience from check-in to departure.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, billing, and ordering dental supplies.
  • Keep treatment areas clean, stocked, and organized during and after procedures.
  • Support the dentist in emergency situations by performing first aid and CPR if needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification; completion of a dental assistant program preferred.
  • Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant or similar role in a dental practice.
  • Knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and maintaining safety standards is essential.
  • Outstanding communication skills to effectively interact with patients and dental staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with high precision in maintaining patient records accurately.
  • Possession of current CPR and First Aid certification is highly desirable for such roles.
