Job Description

An Associate Buyer is an integral part of the procurement team, responsible for supporting the purchasing department in executing strategies and operations to source products and services that meet the company's quality and cost expectations. Working under the supervision of senior buyers or purchasing managers, the Associate Buyer assists in evaluating supplier bids, managing inventory levels, negotiating contracts, and maintaining supplier relationships. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain operations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders. An Associate Buyer contributes to the overall efficiency and profitability of the company by ensuring that goods are procured at competitive prices while maintaining high-quality standards.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in evaluating and selecting suppliers based on cost, quality, and reliability.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to maximize cost-efficiency.
  • Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed to avoid shortages.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate forecasts and demand planning.
  • Maintain detailed records of purchase orders and supplier contracts.
  • Analyze market trends to identify potential opportunities and risks.
  • Support the development and implementation of procurement strategies.
  • Resolve issues related to invoice discrepancies, delivery delays, and defective products.
  • Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Prepare reports on purchasing metrics to assess performance and identify improvements.
  • Assist in managing supplier relationships and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate with finance to ensure timely payment processing to suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Previous experience in a junior purchasing or procurement role is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate supplier proposals and market trends.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of achieving favorable terms.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate purchasing records.
