We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior API Specialist to join our dynamic technology team. The Senior API Specialist will work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and product management, to ensure seamless deployment of APIs that meet our current and future business needs. You will be a crucial player in our tech infrastructure, scaling up our API capabilities and ensuring they align with strategic goals and security standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust APIs to support company-wide digital initiatives.
• Coordinate with product teams to translate business requirements into API features.
• Maintain API lifecycle, from development through to deployment and versioning.
• Conduct API performance tuning to ensure optimal operation at all times.
• Maintain documentation for API design, implementation, and operational support.
• Ensure APIs adhere to industry standards and company security protocols.
• Implement monitoring tools to diagnose and address API-related issues promptly.
• Collaborate with DevOps team to automate API deployment and scaling processes.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends to inform API systems improvements.
• Work with external partners and third-party vendors to integrate APIs effectively.
• Ensure APIs are optimized for mobile-responsive solutions and secured against vulnerabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required.
• Five or more years of experience with API development and integration.
• Proficiency in RESTful and SOAP API design and implementation is essential.
• Familiarity with API management tools such as Apigee, AWS API Gateway is desired.
• Expertise in programming languages like Java, Python, or JavaScript is required.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for API hosting is highly regarded.
