Job Description

As a Registered Nurse specialized in the Operating Theater, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of surgical procedures and the well-being of patients. This demanding but rewarding position requires you to be highly skilled, with a deep understanding of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and the ability to respond quickly in high-pressure situations. You will be responsible for preparing patients for surgery, assisting the surgical team during procedures, and providing intensive post-operative care. Your meticulous attention to detail, strong communication skills, and compassionate patient care are paramount in ensuring that every operation runs smoothly and safely. Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Assist with patient preparation, including verifying patient identification and surgical consents.
  • Coordinate with the surgical team to ensure understanding of the surgical plan and expected outcomes.
  • Monitor patient vitals and communicate any concerns to the surgical team during procedures.
  • Maintain a sterile environment by following established guidelines and protocols consistently.
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by handling instruments, retractors, and other surgical equipment.
  • Document surgical procedures, including patient information, instrumentation used, and the operation's timeline.
  • Provide post-operative care and monitoring to ensure safe patient recovery and comfort.
  • Educate patients and their families about pre and post-surgical care and expectations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive surgical care and patient management.
  • Participate in pre-operative briefings and post-operative debriefings and discussions with surgical teams.
  • Stay updated with current nursing and surgical best practices, innovations, and technologies.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license and registration as a Registered Nurse .
  • Minimum of two years of experience in an operating room or surgical setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of surgical procedures, including instrumentation and aseptic techniques.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, and other team members.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond quickly in emergency situations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical-thinking skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts as required.
