Job Description

The Project Quantity Surveyor plays a crucial role in the financial and contractual management of construction projects. This position is responsible for controlling costs, minimizing expenses, and enhancing value for money while ensuring that the project meets all quality standards and regulations. The Project Quantity Surveyor conducts detailed cost analysis, prepares tender documents, manages the procurement process, and oversees contract compliance. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to negotiate with suppliers and contractors. Successful Project Quantity Surveyors are effective communicators, adept at problem-solving, and have a keen understanding of construction processes and financial management. Their primary goal is to ensure that construction projects are completed within budget and timelines, thereby contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the project.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage detailed project budgets and financial reports for various stakeholders.
  • Conduct cost analysis and cost control, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Develop, negotiate, and execute construction contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes, facilitating resolutions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to manage financial risks.
  • Prepare and manage tender documents, estimates, and pre-contract negotiations.
  • Monitor project progress and determine adjustments to align with financial targets.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure project alignment.
  • Review and assess contractors' progress payments and variation claims.
  • Ensure compliance with construction regulations and legal requirements throughout projects.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation for operational and financial auditing.
  • Support the development and application of value management strategies to enhance performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying or construction-related roles.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets, contracts, and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, procurement, and cost management systems.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant software such as Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and QS-specific tools.
