Job Description

A Paediatric Dentist specializes in providing dental care to infants, children, and adolescents, including those with special health needs. This role requires not only extensive knowledge of dental procedures and conditions unique to children but also the ability to communicate effectively with children and their parents, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience for young patients. A Paediatric Dentist must be adept at diagnosing and treating dental conditions, designing preventive and corrective plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals as needed. Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive dental care, including cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants.
  • Administer appropriate dental treatments such as fillings, crowns, and extractions.
  • Ensure a comfortable and safe environment, minimizing anxiety for young patients.
  • Educate parents and children about proper oral hygiene and preventive care techniques.
  • Collaborate with pediatricians and other healthcare professionals for holistic patient care.
  • Keep accurate records of patient histories, treatments, and progress updates.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in pediatric dentistry practices and techniques.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory policies and dental practice standards.
  • Advise parents on nutrition and dietary impacts on their child’s dental health.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree required.
  • Completed specialty training in pediatric dentistry from an accredited program.
  • Valid state dental license and certification in pediatric dentistry mandatory.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with children.
  • Proficient in diagnostic tools and dental technology used in pediatric dentistry.
  • Ability to create a friendly and welcoming environment to manage patient anxiety.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and education in dentistry field.
