Job Description

The Maintenance Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring that facilities and equipment operate smoothly and efficiently by performing routine maintenance tasks and repairs. This position involves assisting the maintenance team with a variety of duties to ensure the proper functioning of equipment, grounds, and buildings. You will be expected to work under the supervision of a maintenance manager or engineer, executing essential maintenance tasks, responding to service requests, and maintaining records of all maintenance activities. Candidates for this role should have a strong work ethic, good organizational skills, and the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment problems. Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning and lubricating equipment parts.
  • Assist in the inspection and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Support the installation, repair, and maintenance of facility equipment and systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and service requests completed.
  • Conduct safety inspections of equipment and promptly report any hazards.
  • Assist in responding to emergency maintenance calls and repair requests promptly.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to prioritize tasks and manage timelines effectively.
  • Use hand and power tools skillfully and in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and storage rooms.
  • Assist with inventory management by tracking supplies and reporting needs.
  • Participate in training sessions to improve skills and knowledge of maintenance procedures.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure workplace safety and compliance.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a maintenance or related role is highly desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems is required.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools used in maintenance tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively work within a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and undertake further training in maintenance technology.
