Job Description

An Estimator cum Procurement Officer plays a pivotal role in the construction and manufacturing industries by determining cost estimates for projects and procuring necessary materials. This dual role requires a keen eye to detail, strong analytical skills, and a knack for negotiation. As an estimator, you will be responsible for identifying and assessing the cost of resources and materials required for project completion. Meanwhile, as a procurement officer, you will manage procurement activities, sourcing materials at competitive prices, ensuring timely availability to maintain project schedules. Your insights and cost assessments will heavily influence project budgeting, planning, and execution. The perfect candidate is not only well-versed in procurement processes but also skilled in evaluating project feasibility, ensuring that resources are used efficiently while maintaining quality standards.


Responsibilities

  • Analyse blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms and maintain strong relationships.
  • Develop and implement strategies for procuring, storing, and distributing goods or services.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to accurately assess project requirements and constraints.
  • Prepare detailed breakdowns of estimates for client presentations according to industry standards.
  • Monitor market trends and assess impact on material costs and availability.
  • Manage an organized repository of procurement contracts, agreements, and other documents.
  • Monitor costs closely to ensure that all projects are completed on budget and on time.
  • Update pricing lists from suppliers and manufacturers based on current market conditions.
  • Ensure that procurement policies and processes adhere to company standards and regulations.
  • Facilitate coordination between the procurement and finance teams to support smooth operations.
  • Document and report on daily procurement actions and project progress for review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an estimator or procurement officer in a relevant industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tasks.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills are crucial for this role.
  • Proficient in using estimation software and procurement management tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines consistently.
  • Sound knowledge of construction and manufacturing industry procedures and standards.
