Job Description

The role of a Construction Manager is integral to the successful completion of construction projects. This professional oversees the planning, coordination, budgeting, and supervision of construction sites. They act as a bridge between the design and the actual building phase, ensuring that the project adheres to timelines, quality standards, and budgetary constraints. Construction Managers must possess a comprehensive understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and contract management. Effective communication with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders is essential to achieve project goals. Candidates in this role must be adept problem-solvers, able to address any issues that arise on-site with efficiency and foresight. Overall, the Construction Manager is responsible for ensuring that construction projects are completed safely, on time, and within scope and budget.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring schedule adherence.
  • Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs accurately.
  • Supervise all on-site and off-site constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors to achieve project objectives efficiently.
  • Ensure that the construction process runs smoothly by resolving emerging issues on the site.
  • Manage the budget efficiently and ensure that all expenses are accounted for and kept within limits.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to set technical standards and design specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to maintain clear communication lines.
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status, progress, and completion.
  • Negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders to complete all necessary agreements.
  • Analyze, manage, and mitigate risks that could affect project timelines and deliverables.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards on matters related to construction projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven working experience as a Construction Manager or in a similar role for 5+ years.
  • Outstanding knowledge of construction management processes, means, and methods.
  • Expertise in project management software, spreadsheets, and financial acumen.
  • Familiarity with construction and project management software such as AutoCAD and MS Project.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage teams effectively.
  • Strong understanding of safety and environmental standards in the construction industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to make decisions promptly.
