finishing Carpenter

In a joinery and furniture company, a carpenter (joiner) is responsible for crafting, assembling, and installing custom wooden furniture, fittings, and joinery components according to design specifications. This role requires precision, creativity, and an eye for detail to produce high-quality products that meet client expectations. They possess an eye for detail and precision, ensuring that all elements are properly aligned and beautifully crafted. Their work turns a structural shell into a finished, livable space. Finishing carpenters collaborate with design professionals to execute the vision for the space, maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship and safety.

Responsibilities

• 1. Furniture and Joinery Fabrication

  • Construct, assemble, and finish wooden furniture such as tables, cabinets, wardrobes, doors, and frames.

  • Perform cutting, shaping, and joining of timber and other materials (e.g., MDF, veneer, plywood, laminates).

  • Use hand tools and woodworking machinery (planers, routers, saws, sanders, etc.) to create accurate and neat finishes.

  2. Blueprint and Design Interpretation

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, sketches, and 3D designs provided by designers or clients.

  • Ensure accurate measurements and proportions during the fabrication and installation process.

  3. Finishing and Quality Control

  • Carry out sanding to achieve the desired finish.

  • Inspect completed items to ensure high-quality standards, precision, and alignment with design specifications.

  4. Installation and Fitting

  • Install furniture, doors, frames, paneling, and other joinery components on-site or in client spaces.

  • Coordinate with site supervisors, designers, and clients during installations to ensure correct placement and fit.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a finishing carpenter or in a similar carpentry role.
• In-depth knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
• Ability to read technical documents, blueprints, and drawings effectively.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and strong attention to detail and precision.
• Physical stamina and strength to perform manual carpentry tasks efficiently.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to various job sites.
