Job Description

An X-Ray Technician is a crucial healthcare professional responsible for taking diagnostic x-ray images of patients to aid physicians in diagnosing medical conditions. Working as an X-Ray Technician involves mastering the use of sophisticated imaging equipment to capture high-quality images while ensuring patient comfort and safety. This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong technical skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care. X-Ray Technicians work primarily in hospitals, diagnostic imaging centers, and clinics, where they collaborate closely with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare practitioners. Their expertise in imaging techniques and protocols is indispensable in delivering accurate diagnostic results and improving patient outcomes.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and position patients for x-ray examinations following safety protocols.
  • Operate, adjust, and maintain x-ray and diagnostic imaging equipment.
  • Ensure proper functioning of imaging equipment and report any malfunctions.
  • Assist patients in removing clothing or jewelry that could affect x-ray imaging.
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding and alleviate anxiety.
  • Capture high-quality diagnostic images based on physician instructions for interpretation.
  • Maintain patient records and imaging documentation with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Understand and implement radiation safety measures to protect patients and staff.
  • Work closely with radiologists to ensure accurate interpretation of diagnostic images.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the x-ray room and equipment areas.
  • Observe and comply with all health and safety regulations in the imaging department.
  • Participate in ongoing training and workshops to stay updated on radiology trends.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited radiologic technologist program is mandatory.
  • Current certification and licensure as an X-Ray Technician are required.
  • Proven experience working in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology pertinent to x-ray imaging.
  • Familiarity with radiation safety procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to interact with patients and staff.
  • Ability to handle complex imaging equipment with precision and care.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow guidelines.
  • Demonstrated capacity for empathy and patient-centered care delivery.
  • Basic computer skills to manage digital imaging and patient records.
