Job Description

As a Water Quality Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of water resources. This position involves conducting fieldwork and laboratory tests to monitor water quality and ensure compliance with environmental standards and regulations. You will be responsible for collecting water samples from various sources such as lakes, rivers, and reservoirs and analyzing the data to detect any contaminants or pollutants. Collaborating with environmental scientists and other specialists, you will work towards maintaining a safe water supply and protect public health. Your role will also involve preparing detailed reports on water quality test results, presenting findings, and recommending necessary actions. By adhering to strict safety protocols, your efforts will have a direct impact on environmental protection and community welfare.


Responsibilities

  • Collect water samples systematically from various water sources for quality analysis.
  • Conduct laboratory tests to detect chemical and biological contaminants in water samples.
  • Monitor and record environmental conditions affecting water quality and availability.
  • Collaborate with environmental scientists to interpret water quality data effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate measurement results.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing water quality testing findings and recommendations.
  • Present findings to stakeholders, including government agencies and community organizations.
  • Develop and implement water quality management strategies to improve environmental health.
  • Respond promptly to water quality issues and emergencies with appropriate actions.
  • Keep accurate records of sampling procedures, test results, and findings in databases.
  • Participate in public education and awareness programs on water conservation and quality issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
  • Previous experience in water testing, environmental assessment, or related field.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data from water quality tests.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and maintaining calibration standards.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and guidelines related to water quality.
