Job Description

The Warehouse Assistant plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of warehouse facilities. This role involves a variety of tasks essential for maintaining an organized and smooth-running warehouse environment. As a Warehouse Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the receipt, storage, and dispatching of products. You will also ensure inventory accuracy, assist in the packaging of goods, and help maintain a clean warehouse space. This position requires physical stamina, as it involves lifting and moving goods, as well as a keen eye for detail to oversee inventory counts and prevent discrepancies. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the reception and inspection of goods delivered to the warehouse.
  • Participate in inventory counts to ensure accurate stock records are maintained.
  • Prepare goods for dispatch, ensuring correct and safe packaging for delivery.
  • Maintain an organized work area to optimize efficiency and safety standards.
  • Operate forklifts and other machinery as needed, following all safety regulations.
  • Keep track of warehouse supplies and report low stock levels to the supervisor.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team to achieve daily operational targets.
  • Load and unload delivery trucks, overseeing the proper handling of packages.
  • Contribute to the development of better storage procedures and logistics solutions.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of all warehouse activities and transactions.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations to foster a safe working environment.
  • Provide excellent service when dealing with customers and suppliers visiting the warehouse.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification is required for this role.
  • Prior experience in a warehouse setting is highly preferred by employers.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment effectively and safely.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting and moving heavy objects.
  • Good communication skills for collaborating with team members and clients.
  • Understanding of basic health and safety practices within a warehouse environment.
  • Proficiency with inventory software systems and basic computer usage.
  • Flexibility to work on shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
