Job Description

A Warehouse Assistant plays a crucial role in the smooth operations of a warehouse. Their primary role is to manage the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods efficiently and accurately. They ensure that products are stored in the correct location, in a safe and organized manner, to maximize the use of space within the warehouse. Attention to detail is critical as the Warehouse Assistant checks orders, processes inventory, and maintains records. With a keen focus on safety and quality, they operate various material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, and ensure the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse environment. Furthermore, they may assist in inventory management by conducting stock takes and updating records in warehouse management systems. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential, as Warehouse Assistants often work collaboratively with other warehouse staff and may interact with suppliers and delivery personnel.


Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and record new shipments of stock into the warehouse.
  • Accurately pick, pack, and prepare goods for shipment to customers.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report on stock shortages or discrepancies.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to safely move goods around the warehouse.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize warehouse operations and workflow.
  • Process returns and ensure correct restocking or disposal of returned items.
  • Assist in conducting regular stock takes and updating inventory records accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the warehouse environment.
  • Provide support in managing warehouse management software and systems effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with delivery personnel and suppliers as necessary.
  • Label and identify products accurately for efficient retrieval and document keeping.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification is required for this role.
  • Previous experience working in a warehouse or similar environment is preferred.
  • Ability to operate warehouse machinery like forklifts and pallet jacks safely.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills is essential.
  • Good physical stamina to handle heavy lifting and standing for long periods.
  • Basic computer skills to manage inventory software and data entry tasks.
  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively within a team environment.
