Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures by providing instruments and monitoring animal patients.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the supervising veterinarian.
• Provide nursing care to hospitalized animals, including feeding, bathing, and exercising.
• Collect samples such as blood, urine, or tissue for laboratory testing and analysis.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date patient records detailing the care and treatments provided.
• Educate pet owners on post-operative care, dietary needs, and ongoing health maintenance.
• Perform regular checks on animal patients and report any changes in condition to the veterinarian.
• Maintain a sterile and organized working environment in the examination and surgical rooms.
• Assist with the handling and restraint of animals during examinations and treatments.
• Operate and maintain medical equipment such as X-ray machines and diagnostic tools.
• Prepare and manage the scheduling of appointments and follow-up examinations.
• Engage in continuous professional development to stay current on veterinary nursing best practices.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Veterinary Nursing or a related field is required.
• Certification or registration with a recognized veterinary nursing body is desirable.
• Prior experience in a clinical veterinary setting is preferred, especially surgical assistance.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners.
• Proficiency in handling and caring for various animal species, big and small.
