Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures and ensure a sterile environment is maintained.
• Conduct thorough health check-ups and patient assessments under the guidance of a veterinarian.
• Administer medications and vaccinations as prescribed by the veterinarian.
• Monitor and manage the recovery of animals post-surgery or during medical treatments.
• Collect samples for laboratory testing and ensure accurate procedural practices.
• Educate pet owners on preventative health care and nutritional information for their animals.
• Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment promptly and effectively.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality at all times.
• Provide direct nursing care, including feeding, grooming, and exercise, to hospitalized animals.
• Manage appointments, schedule surgical procedures, and handle client inquiries professionally.
• Identify common disease symptoms in animals and report any anomalies to the veterinarian.
• Participate in the training and development of veterinary assistant staff as required.

Requirements

• Diploma or associate degree in veterinary nursing or a related field is required.
• Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of animal care best practices and disease prevention.
• Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and humanely under varying conditions.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with veterinarians and pet owners.
• Ability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as the facility demands.
