Job Description

A Structural Design Engineer is crucial in the architecture and construction industries, where precision and innovation intersect. This role involves the design, planning, and supervision of various structures, ensuring they are safe, sustainable, and functional. As a Structural Design Engineer, you will work closely with architects and construction managers to develop structural systems that adhere to industry standards and regulations. Responsibilities

  • Analyze project requirements and develop structural designs that meet client specifications.
  • Conduct detailed load calculations and structural analysis to ensure safety and stability.
  • Collaborate with architects and construction teams to integrate structural systems into projects.
  • Utilize software tools for simulation and design of structural elements and systems.
  • Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and technical drawings for construction projects.
  • Evaluate materials and construction methods to optimize structural integrity and cost-efficiency.
  • Supervise construction sites to ensure compliance with design plans and safety regulations.
  • Perform regular inspections on construction sites to monitor progress and safety measures.
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to resolve design or construction issues.
  • Ensure that all designs comply with legal requirements and adhere to industry standards.
  • Participate in project meetings and present design developments and modifications.
  • Continually update personal knowledge and skills in evolving structural engineering methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field, with structural emphasis.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one is preferred.
  • Proven experience in structural design within the construction industry is necessary.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools is required.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills to perform accurate calculations and analysis.
  • Capable of working within multidisciplinary teams and maintaining effective communication.
  • Detailed knowledge of structural codes, standards, and regulations in the construction industry.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to challenging tasks.
