Job Description

A Stock Controller plays an essential role in the efficient management and smooth operation of a business’s supply chain and inventory systems. By meticulously tracking stock levels, pinpointing discrepancies, and ensuring that all processes run smoothly, they significantly contribute to maintaining the financial viability and operational efficiency of a company. This role involves working closely with warehouse teams, sales departments, and suppliers to ensure that inventory levels are aligned with business needs and customer demands. A Stock Controller must be detail-oriented, analytical, and possessing excellent organizational skills to handle the dynamic nature of stock management. Additionally, effective communication and problem-solving abilities are crucial for addressing inventory-related issues and implementing strategies for optimizing stock control processes.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain current stock levels to prevent overstocking or running out of supplies.
  • Conduct regular physical counts of inventory and reconcile discrepancies accurately.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure efficient stock handling and storage practices.
  • Analyze sales forecasts and production schedules for inventory planning and optimization.
  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures and best practices.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on inventory accuracy, turnover rates, and stock levels.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of goods and manage lead times.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of inventory-related records and reports.
  • Oversee the disposal of obsolete or damaged stock following company policies.
  • Implement strategies for inventory reduction and cost savings when deemed necessary.
  • Verify incoming stock against purchase orders and ensure quality control standards are met.
  • Utilize inventory management software to record, track, and allocate stock efficiently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in inventory management or stock control.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and database tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with different departments.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in inventory counting and data entry.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
