Overview Of The Role:
The Trainee Electrical Engineer is responsible for a team of Supervisors and the execution of both internal and external Electrical activities on a project, under the supervision of the Sr. Electrical Engineer. This role contributes to achieving the projects goals by coordinating with various stakeholders such as Engineers, Supervisors, Contractors, and clients. The engineer promotes safe working practices and develops cost-effective, technically compliant solutions while adhering to company policies and procedures.
What You Will Do:
Project Management
Liaise with Main Contractors, Consultants, and internal departments to ensure project deliverables are met.
Coordinate with Engineers and Supervisors in quantifying total material and labour requirements for the project, including timely order of materials and planning of labour/sub-contractors.
Monitor daily productivity with Engineers and Supervisors.
Maximize efficient use of plant and equipment from within the organization.
Complete jobs on time and efficiently respond to any delay letters from Main Contractors or clients.
Ensure material wastage is less than 1% of total material cost.
Manage labour productivity to not exceed budgeted man-hours.
Engineering
Coordinate with engineers and drafting teams for the submission and approval of shop drawings, and track progress with shop drawing registers.
Work with procurement department for vendor finalization, material submission, and approvals, tracking through material submission/procurement registers.
Seek resolutions on complex technical problems to ensure satisfactory completion of design and construction.
Coordinate with Mechanical and other trades to verify actual equipment loads with IFCs, notifying changes.
Complete all engineering/shop drawing submissions and approvals, and vendor finalization within 1/3rd of project duration.
Receive approvals within the second submission and maintain a high percentage of Code A Approvals.
Quality / Standards
Apply internal engineering and construction standards, operating procedures, specifications, and templates for consistent project delivery.
Develop Method Statements for each activity in line with Project Specifications.
Prepare Project Closeout Documentation.
Develop a number of Standards/Templates operating procedures.
Health, Safety & Environment
Ensure all company and subcontract personnel comply with the AFE HSE Policy.
Report all personal injuries and incidents, assisting with investigations.
Actively support and participate in safety and environmental initiatives.
Ensure Job Safety Assessments are completed as required.
Maintain Zero Accidents and Lost Time Incidents at the site.
Keep proper records of communication and trainings regarding safety.
Required Skills To Be Successful:
Strong ability to liaise effectively with contractors and stakeholders.
Proficient in project management and planning techniques.
Knowledge of drafting, material procurement, and technical problem-solving.
Commitment to maintaining high safety standards and effective communication.
What Qualifies You For The Role:
Degree in Electrical Engineering.
0 - 3 years of experience in MEP Contracting Companies.
Basic knowledge in engineering design and regulations.
Familiarity with project development/project management software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project, Primavera.
