Job Description

A Senior Structural Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring that building frameworks and infrastructures are not only designed but also built to withstand various environmental and man-made forces. This professional is responsible for planning and overseeing the integrity of construction projects, ensuring durability and safety. Often collaborating with architects, construction managers, and other engineers, a Senior Structural Engineer will ensure the compliance of designs with the appropriate building codes and regulations. With a keen attention to detail and strong analytical skills, they assess the strength, stability, and rigidity of built structures. This position demands extensive experience in structural engineering, as well as outstanding project management skills to lead and guide junior engineers and construction teams towards successful project completion.


Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze structural components to ensure they comply with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with architects and construction managers to integrate structural systems into overall project designs.
  • Review and approve final construction plans, ensuring all specifications are met.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure construction phase adheres to design and safety regulations.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to junior engineers and project teams.
  • Analyze and interpret scientific and technical documents and reports.
  • Develop engineering calculations and simulations to predict structural performance.
  • Identify and implement necessary modifications to existing structures as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets to align with timelines and funding constraints.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for various structural engineering projects.
  • Participate in client consultations to discuss project objectives, needs, and goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is required for this position.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural engineering or similar roles.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, STAAD, or SAP2000.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and construction techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration.
