As a Senior Registered Nurse in the Dialysis unit, your primary responsibility will be to provide specialized nursing care to patients with kidney disorders requiring dialysis treatment. You will work closely with nephrologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to patients at various stages of renal disease. Strong clinical skills, empathy, and attention to detail are essential for this role.
Responsibilities
Assess and monitor patients' kidney function and overall health status.
Administer hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis treatments as prescribed by the physician.
Monitor patients during dialysis procedures, including vital signs, fluid balance, and reaction to treatment.
Educate patients and their families on dialysis procedures, self-care techniques, and dietary restrictions.
Administer medications and intravenous therapy as required.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Ensure the safe and accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families throughout the dialysis process.
Assist in the training and supervision of junior nursing staff.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay updated on current practices and advancements in dialysis care.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent.
Registered Nurse license with at least 5 years of experience in dialysis nursing.
Proven experience in delivering hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments.
Solid understanding of kidney function and renal disease management.
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to provide emotional support to patients and their families.
Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems.
Leadership qualities and the ability to work well in a team.
