Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. This role is perfectly suited for a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, contractors, and other key stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Your expertise will be pivotal in advising the best value procurement strategies, measuring project performance against benchmarks, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed estimates and cost plans for construction projects ensuring adherence to budgets.
  • Conduct risk, value management, and cost control exercises to reduce financial risks.
  • Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to secure advantageous terms and conditions.
  • Oversee the preparation of tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
  • Monitor and manage project finances, including managing variations and advising on payment claims.
  • Produce detailed progress reports providing insights on adherence to budget and cash flow.
  • Advise on procurement strategies and evaluate bids from contractors for services.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure project specifications and financial protocols are met.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior surveyors ensuring project goals are achieved.
  • Conduct site visits to track work progress and address any arising issues.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders, providing expert advice on commercial matters.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, environment, and quality standards on all projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in quantity surveying roles in construction settings.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Professional membership with RICS or equivalent chartered status is desirable.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
