Job Overview:

The Senior Construction Specialist uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Construction (Fab) discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Construction (Fab) discipline. Senior Construction Specialists solve complex problems and use discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Construction Specialist impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Construction (Fab) team and other related teams. It ensures they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Lead disciplined site execution in both a Greenfield; Brownfield Project environments in line with PMT expectations on HSE, Quality, Technical requirements, and Execution performance
  • Monitor compliance with policies and procedures aligned to Functional standards for site activities
  • Direct and coordinate site implementation works, resource planning, and schedule milestones activities aligned to the budget
  • Manage and coordinate all Sub-Contractor implementation activities to ensure milestones and KPIs aligned to Safety and delivery are delivered against business expectations
  • Monitor Sub-Contractor employee/industrial relations to ensure standards are not breached
  • Interface with Operations, Pre-commissioning, Design, Engineering, and Quality groups to obtain a complete scope understanding of optimum design success
  • Participate in constructability reviews/processes with a focus on design optimization to minimize execution person-hours
  • Provide input into class 4 person-hour estimates and bid execution strategies (if required) supporting the estimating team as an SME
  • Take ownership of the 3C Readiness Process to ensure effective preparation of project site activities has been carried out aligned to schedule logic before mobilization
  • Accountable for the implementation oversight of all field activities aligned with Client expectations
  • Support the Hook-Up Manager with the timely delivery of documentation, fabrication, materials, personnel, and vendors aligned to the execution schedule and escalate to PMT if you witness deliverable slippage
  • Monitor implementation-related changes and growth during project execution and record accordingly
  • Coordinate the effective use of assets and high-value equipment
  • Monitor and agree to Sub-Contractor times and ensure accuracy is maintained
  • Take ownership of Back to Base Morning Calls and ensure detailed daily reports are cascaded to a target audience 

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience
