Job Description

The Senior Chartering Executive will be responsible for independently managing chartering activities across the West Africa and Atlantic side, including Europe, North America, and South America. A key focus will be on developing freight solutions from the Mediterranean (MED), Black Sea (BSEA), and Pacific origins to secure competitive freight matrices. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial instincts, an established network of shipowners and brokers, and a proven ability to fix vessels independently while maximizing voyage profitability. This role offers strategic input, route ownership, and direct contribution to the company’s freight positioning in high-potential markets.


The Senior Chartering Executive will:

  • Take full ownership of assigned chartering routes across West Africa and the Atlantic side.
  • Independently source and fix tonnage on a voyage or time charter basis, with sound negotiation and contract risk management.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with shipowners, brokers, and other stakeholders.
  • Trade freight, leveraging market dynamics from MED, BSEA, and Pacific to optimize freight positioning.
  • Prepare timely freight market updates and intelligence reports on key routes and rate trends.
  • Provide accurate voyage costing and post-fixture profitability reviews, including laytime calculations.
  • Coordinate closely with internal Trade, BD, and Operations teams to ensure seamless cargo execution.
  • Support senior management through regular reporting on performance, market coverage, and risks.


Technical/ Academic Competences:

  • Bachelors degree in Shipping, Marine Studies, Business, Economics, or related field. MBA is a plus.
  • TC/TCT calculations, bulk purchases, voyage file opening and closing.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with an active network of shipowners and brokers
  • Strong commercial judgement and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • Confident stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills across internal and external interfaces.


Experience:

  • 5–10 years of experience in dry bulk vessel (Supramax, Capsize) chartering, with proven ability to independently fix vessels and manage Africa routes, etc.
  • Deep knowledge of Handy, to Capsize segments.
  • Strong experience in freight trading for West Africa, Atlantic, Europe, and South America, with understanding of cargo flow from MED, BSEA, and Pacific origins.


Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with industry platforms and chartering tools.

Fluent in English; additional language(s) a plus.
