Job Description

A Senior Accountant plays a critical role in any organization by managing the company's accounting functions and ensuring financial stability. This position requires a meticulous approach to financial data assessment, financial reporting, and compliance adherence. A Senior Accountant will often lead a team of accountants and collaborate closely with other department leaders to ensure accurate financial planning and analysis. The role involves preparing financial statements, ensuring tax compliance, and overseeing audits. Typically reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or controller, the Senior Accountant is essential to strategic financial planning and plays a vital role in budgeting, reporting, and decision-making processes. Being a Senior Accountant demands not only a high level of accounting acumen but also strong leadership and communication skills.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and consolidation of monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of all financial documentation with local regulations.
  • Supervise and support junior accounting staff and other finance team members.
  • Manage the general ledger and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Coordinate and support the internal and external audit processes efficiently.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts with accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain effective financial controls and procedures throughout.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and report findings to management.
  • Review and reconcile all accounts and maintain balance sheet accuracy.
  • Assess and implement new accounting policies and procedures if needed.
  • Support tax compliance and collaborate with tax advisors when necessary.
  • Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to managerial staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • A minimum of five years experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite necessary.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are important.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
